On Saturday, 23 March 2019 the rapper rubbed shoulders with and wrestled against some of Hollywoods’ heavyweights for a Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award, which took place at the Galen Center in Los Angeles. Although the internet went frenzy that his daughter, Kairo, couldn’t attend the event with him because of VISA issues, the proud dad will bring home his award.

AKA was nominated for the Favourite South African Star award alongside actress Nomzamo Mbatha, rugby player Siya Kolisi, cricket player Kagiso Rabada and “Idols SA” judge and radio personality Somizi Mhlongo. He shared the news with his fans on social media saying, “It gives me great pride to accept this @nickelodeon KIDS CHOICE AWARD on behalf of my daughter @kairo.forbes and all of the MEGACY. Thank You so much for all the votes 🗳 … I cannot stress how important it is to have the young ones still rocking with me as their #1 after 10 + years in the game. From AFRICA TO THE WORLD.”

Hosted by DJ Khaled, the ceremony saw many favourite names grabbing awards, including Ariana Grande for favourite female artist and favourite song. Favourite TV Host was the hilarious Ellen DeGeneres and Zendaya, who bagged a beauty deal with Lancome and recently launched her Tommy Hilfiger x Zendaya collection, is a Favorite Female TV Star.

The show was aired on Sunday, 24 March 2019 at 17:05 CAT on DStv channel 305.

Congratulations again, AKA for yet another milestone, what a way to celebrate ten years in the game.

Here’s a reminder why the rapper probably is a favourite across age groups:
