28-year-old singer and songwriter, WizKid collaborates with Sports brand, Nike to create a special and limited edition of a ‘Star Boy’ soccer jersey.
Two global giants, Nigerian born Wizkid and Nike teamed up to create a soccer jersey. The brand announced that it will retail the jerseys on their site, nike.com today (10 September 2018). Since what the singer touches turns to gold the jerseys sold out! The fashion item embellished WizKid’s hometown of Surulere, Lagos, on the lower back of the artist’s collaborative Nike jersey. The jersey’s green and white trimmings are said to reflect the Nigerian flag, while the front features a centrally-placed Nike logo and is highlighted by the iconic Starboy graphic across the chest. Nike’s website mentions, “An admirer of fashion and football, Wizkid’s partnership with Nike Football was just a matter of time. His collaboration shirt is a celebration of his Nigerian roots.”
DESIGN DETAILS
To create this Nike exclusive shirt, we teamed up with Nigerian pop sensation, Wizkid. Emblazoned with the logo of his own personal label, Starboy, Wizkid celebrates his story in bold design and subtle decoration. The colours of Nigeria proudly embellish the sleeves and the name of his starting place and hometown, Surulere, shines on the reverse. The shirt is finished with a centrally placed Nike Swoosh, complementing his iconic Starboy graphic below.
