With 2017 almost over and seeing most of your career bucket lists not ticked, it’s easy to feel demotivated at work. This is how you can bounce back
There’s more to your career than merely affording to pay your bills at the end of each month. It’s one thing to snooze your alarm five times before getting up, but dragging yourself to work because you have been feeling demotivated is another. There are many reasons you might feel that way. Perhaps you feel you deserve more than the money you are earning or that promotion you didn’t get, or even have colleagues who perfectly describe what a nightmare is. Whatever the reason, it’s still only the beginning of the week and you might be at your workplace for a while before another opportunity comes up so you have to make the most of it. This is how you can spring back up and make the most of your job this week, and hopefully for the rest of the year:
Remember your aspirations: We all have vision boards when it comes to our careers. We have that position or income we’ve aspired to achieve from the moment we first knocked on different doors that landed us to where we are today. Remind yourself why you hunted for the job you have now and how its helping you get a step closer to your dream job.
Nothing is perfect: Believe it or not the company or boss you dream to work for one day isn’t at all perfect. Nothing is a bed of roses and sometimes, life and even your job is what you make of it. As long as you are able to draw the line between having a bad day or a toxic environment.
How are taking responsibility for how you are feeling? If you are unhappy at work how are you contributing to that? Do you need another challenge at work and have you communicated that with your boss, do you feel overwhelmed and have you asked for assistance or are you treated the way you treat others at work? Find out what it is that’s demotivating you and if you are the cause change your attitude.
Be grateful for what you have: It’s so easy to take what you have for granted and sometimes we spend more time complaining than working. There must be something to appreciate about your job. Use that as something to motivate you to work as hard as you can.
It’s time to move on: Maybe it’s time to challenge yourself with another job title or work at a new environment. Do something about it by having a positive mind set and apply elsewhere. Somehow, the Universe has a way of turning your dreams into a reality if you are focused enough.
