The late actor stars alongside award-winning Viola Davis in the film that will be out on December 18 on streaming giant Netflix.
This biopic, produced by Denzel Washington, is based on the 1982 namesake play by August Wilson. The story follows the career of the real-life singer Ma Rainey also known as “Mother of the Blues”. Ma Rainey is played by Viola Davis. According to Harper’s Bazaar, “The film focuses on Ma Rainey’s struggle with her white management team.
