4 Stylish Ways To Wear Jeans For Work

24 April 2019 marked world denim day to support survivors of sexual assault. Why not show solidarity this week by stylishly dressing up your jeans to work?

Yesterday commemorated a movement that women the world over still battle: sexual assault. For the past 20 years, Peace Over Violence has run its Denim Day campaign on a Wednesday in April in honour of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. According to denimdayinfo.org The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction (of an 18-year-old girl) was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. The following day, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Peace Over Violence developed the Denim Day campaign in response to this case and the activism surrounding it. Since then, wearing jeans on Denim Day has become a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual harassment, abuse, assault, and rape. With this said, we suggest five ways to dress up in denim at work this week:

Throw over a jacket or blazer: The blazer (or jacket this winter) is any corporate girl’s must-have. You can tone it down with a navy blue or black blazer or add a pop of colour with a red or nude blazer.

Wear them with heels: The best way to transform any look to a classic and formal one is to slip into heels. Jeans look great in heels, ankle boots are a great option this cold season.

Put a shirt on it: A crisp white shirt, with statement earrings, will sure give your look that professional edge. If white is not your thing, you can dress any colour or pattern, just keep it plain for work.

Dress them down with brogues: Tap into your Androgynous side with a pair of metallic or brown pair of brogues, along with your jeans.

How do you prefer dressing your jeans?
