Podcasts are one of the best platforms to use to stay in tune to what’s happening around you. From lifestyle to career development, these are the top five to listen to

Podcasts are becoming popular in South Africa, including Podcast and Chill with MacG, which in has been dominating Twitter trends for the past two years. The best thing about them is that there are different niches to cater to everyone’s interest, from current affairs, to lifestyle, politics and career development. It’s a matter of finding one that suits you and adds value to what you want to stay updated on. While I am still Googling for podcasts to add to my list, here are the top five I personally enjoy so far:

Podcast and Chill with MacG

You can find the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcast and even on YouTube. The main host is former YFM presenter MacGyver and co-hosts Sol Phenduka and Ghost Lady. What I enjoy about the podcast is that it’s frank, fun, controversial, blunt and guests open up on things you never knew, saw or even read about them.

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

One of my favourite authors and purpose coaches, former monk from the UK, Jay Shetty, unpacks his wisdom on how you can live your life to the fullest and with purpose. I follow his work, from his social media accounts, to even empowering myself with his books and podcast series. If you need a daily source of inspiration, I recommend you add this channel to your podcast collection on Spotify, Apple Podcast or wherever you get your podcasts.

TED Podcasts

You have probably heard of or seen renowned guests from all walks of life being featured in TED Talks. The great news is that it has a podcast channel, where you can listen to thought-provoking talks and different topics. Though the episodes are short, they have a well of information to help make your life meaningful. Catch it on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

The Diary Of A CEO with Steven Bartlett

In 2020, at 27, British entrepreneur Steven Barlett resigned as CEO of his multimillion-rand company Social Chain AG and launched The Diary Of A CEO to help people on their journey to success, what this blog is all about. To unpack success and get great tips from experts and people who have made it, catch this podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts. YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.

The Money Show with Bruce Whitfield

This broadcast legend has a loyal following on his weekday show, The Money Show on weekdays from 18:00 to 20:00 on 702 FM, is published as a podcast by Primedia Broadcasting. If you missed the show, which talks about all things personal finance and factors that affect your pockets, you can catch up on the podcast on Apple Podcast, Spotify and other platforms where you listen to podcasts.
