A healthy lifestyle is very difficult to maintain, especially if you work long hours. Here are five ways to be healthy despite being too busy
Chasing career dreams often mean takeaways and few hours of sleep. That is a recipe for health disaster and the sad part is that we all know it. I am not a health expert but I have learned the hard way that working crazy hours and ignoring your body’s exhaustion can cause unnecessary health hazards. Here are simple ways to take care of your health, while chasing your paper:
Plan your meals in advance: Draw out a meal plan that has all the nutrients your body needs, especially proteins that are known to help with our metabolism and our energy levels. Dedicate Sundays to precook, or cook meals for the week that you can take to work. Not only is that good for your health but also for your bank balance, as you won’t have to buy food at work.
Excercise regularly: By now we all know the health benefits of keeping fit. Dedicate at least an hour before or after work of hitting that treadmill at the gym, but if you like your space, draw out an exercise plan in the comfort of your home. Also take advantage of your surroundings at work, by taking the stairs instead of an elevator or taking walks during lunch breaks.
Make sleep your priority: I know that some of us wish there are more hours in a day and that this sounds like mission impossible but you have to prioritise rest. Your body and brain can’t operate well without resting. Experts say that you need at least seven hours of sleep a night, so take it easy and incorporate sleeping as part of your health plan.

Watch what you drink: Avoid fizzy drinks or energy drinks that are packed with the calories you don’t need for your weight and overall health. Rather hydrate your body with 2 liters of water a day, which is free and healthier.
Take regular breaks at work: Most jobs require you to sit and work in front of your computer the whole day. Take regular breaks by stretching or taking a walk around the office to avoid exhaustion.
