Spring has finally sprung, and what better way to welcome a new season than shedding off a bit of unhappiness?
Nothing welcomes spring better than the smell of moist soil sprinkled by rain or bright petals blooming at every corner. The exciting thing about this new, warmer season is that we are finally stacking away layers of clothes, boots and coats and showing off a bit of skin. But beyond that, spring is a great time to reflect on how the year has been and whether there were any goals you have ticked off. It’s also a time to get rid of certain habits and people that block your potential to be a happier version of yourself. If you think change is impossible, think again because it’s all in the mind. Make the rest of (a warmer) 2017 worthwhile by following these five simple tips:
Make the choice to be happy: Everything falls into place when you choose to have a different mind-set. You are what you think. Replace negative thoughts with positive affirmations of the life you believe you deserve.
Evaluate your relationships: with either your romantic partner, family members or friends. If you always feel drained and unhappy at the company of certain people, cut those ties. Life is challenging enough without such people who always weigh you down.
Remove yourself from toxic environments: Certain places stifle your growth, especially in the workplace. If you find yourself complacent and unhappy where you are do something about it and look for opportunities elsewhere. Don’t waste your time on people who don’t value your worth, talents and skills.
Clean your closet: You’ll be surprised to find items you really don’t need anymore. Why not convince your friends to do the same and donate to those in need? Not only will it make you feel good but it will give you a great reason to shop!
Take care of yourself: Sleep more (I will try to practice what I preach), exercise more and drink lots of water. Importantly, let go of any regrets and grudges you have held on to from the past. That baggage is hurting only you and no one else. Be your own best friend and do what makes you happy, always.
