American Hip Hop veteran, and author of a cookbook, From Crook to Cook, has received his long-overdue star on the Hollywood Hall of Fame.
Snoop Dogg, who rose to fame since the 1990s, has finally received his long overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The rapper, entrepreneur and new author thanked the one person he couldn’t have done it without.
“I want to thank me for believing in me,” he began. “I want to thank me for doing all this hard work, I want to thank me for having no days off, I want to thank me for never quitting, I want to thank me for always being a giver and trying to give more than I receive.”
“I want to thank me for trying to do more rights than wrong, I want to thank me for just being me at all times,” he continued. “Snoop Dogg, you a bad motherf—.”
His success tips before the ceremony were, “You gotta’ put that work in. It’s not like they just gave this to me. “The [press] was out to get me. I had to prove them wrong and do all the right things to get myself in favor. When you mess up, you look for redemption and when you do something wrong, you try to get it right. That’s where I am right now.”
He continues, ” You only die once, so you should live every day. Rule No. 2, master your self –master being great at you, because once you understand the mechanisms of you, you control you at all times. That way, you’ll never be out of control.”
Dogg also thanked Dr. Dre who he credits for his lyrical skills, he adds, “Dre taught me so much, but I learned so much from having DOC as my sensei. He really showed me how to write,” Snoop says, abandoning the blunt halfway. “The last time I went to Dallas, he came to my performance and hugged me after the show and said ‘I’m so proud of you cuz.’ That’s the ultimate feeling: when your coach can be impressed that you became a great player and it’s all because of him.”
Not to mention the late Tu Pac who encouraged him to branch into acting. He mentions,” 2Pac was all about being in movies and a part of movies. I liked movies. He gave me the bug. That’s the kind of person he was. He’d push s–t on you if he knew was great — if he knew you could do better.”
Snoop who’s been nominated 18 times, but with no Grammy Award says, “If I get 20 nominations without a win, I’m going to make myself a Grammy and have people come over and ash in that s–t.”
