Being happy is a choice and perfecting these morning rituals will sure keep your mood elevated the whole day.
I am not a morning person at all. But I know how important it is to start my day early to (almost) meet my daily goals. I know it is not healthy working into the wee hours of the morning, especially if I started my day very early. Naturally I am grumpy in the morning and depend on a lot of coffee, expresso and a lot of stand-up comedy on YouTube to keep me going. It wasn’t until I heard that you can practices certain rituals in the morning to keep you productive or happy that I felt powerless over my emotions. A friend of mine, who is always in a good mood recently shared with me what makes her happy all the time. Although she admits that she swears from time to time she advises her morning rituals that I have tried to also implement for myself:
Always fall on your knees from your bed: Prayer is a very important tool that helps set your day. Nothing beats the feeling of waking up with a grateful heart and asking God for guidance and protection. It assures you that you have a Higher being by your side in everything you will face.
Have a healthy breakfast: I have always been bad with this as I would often skip breakfast or depend on junk meal to fill me up the whole day. These days I make sure I add at least fruits or cereals to my morning bowl.
Exercise: Okay, I haven’t mastered this yet but countless studies have shown that exercising is good for you. It is helps lessens stress and depression and it’s excellent for that killer summer body.
Catch up with your loved ones: With deadlines to meet and proposals to slay, hours may seem too short for many hustlers. But setting at least 5 or 10 minutes aside to call or see someone you love makes all the difference in the world.
Do what you love: Whether it’s cooking, baking, singing or dancing. Making time to do something that makes you smile will sure elevate your mood.
Find something to be grateful for: If it’s that hard, be thankful that you woke up this morning. Life, itself is a gift that will not last forever in this world.
Are there other morning rituals that keep you happy?
