With drier and colder weather, our skins need more tender loving care. This is how to take good care of your skin this cold winter season
Those who know me know that winter is the least of my favourite seasons. Not only do I wear layers of clothing during the season, but I tend to carry a light blanket with me, just in case. But I am guilty of forgetting to give my skin the same care my wardrobe needs. So, my skin is prone to breaking out and it’s totally sensitive, which is a big nightmare. But I have decided to treat my skin to a much needed healthy routine it needs this season. This is what is currently in my bag:
Cleanser: I have since used my dove beauty bar since my dermatologist recommended it to me a few years back. I swear by it and haven’t personally touched a cleanser. What I love about the Dove cream bar is that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and smoother. Beauty experts, have, however recommended the following as well:
I have since used my dove beauty bar since my dermatologist recommended it to me a few years back. I swear by it and haven’t personally touched a cleanser. What I love about the Dove cream bar is that it leaves my skin feeling fresh and smoother. Beauty experts have however recommended the following as well:
Eucerin Ultra Sensitive Soothing Cleansing Lotion, R191,90
The cleanser contains fatty alcohol that’s not an irritant, and it’s free from preservatives and other harmful chemicals. It gently removes makeup effectively without leaving the skin feeling dry.
Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm A favourite brand amongst some of my friends, this cleanser is lightweight and non-greasy and effectively removes dirt and makeup worn throughout the day.
Exfoliator:
Johnson&Johnson Gentle Exfoliating Wash, is an affordable and effective way to remove impurities. It is dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin.
Nivea Daily Essentials Skin Refining Scrub Normal & Combination Skin, I love this product as it gently exfoliates away dead cells, oil and dirt, leaving my skin clearer. I use it three times a week.
Toner:
Olay Essentials Refreshing Toner. Try to use products that are alcohol free to avoid damaged, dry skin. This toner is dermatologically tested and contains cucumber and aloe, ensuring that your skin doesn’t dry out.
African Extracts Rooibos Refreshing Toner. This toner is great for sensitive as it contains rooibos and hazel extracts.
Lotion:
Clinique Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying is an oil-free cream-gel that is perfect for the winter season as it rehydrates your skin. Love it!
Nivea Visage Rich Daily Cream is a rich, fast absorbing beauty treatment that gives dry and sensitive skin moisture and a smooth texture for the whole day.
When you go shopping for that winter wardrobe, don’t forget to pass by your beauty aisle and give your skin the care it needs this winter.
