Developing a healthy skin routine is very important to maintain a youthful and healthy glow. It’s a lifestyle that only you can take control of. The harsh, polluted environment and the unhealthy food we sometimes overindulge in is often reflected in our skin. Make sure you keep your skin (and overall health) happy with these habits:

Use sunscreen: With winter fast approaching we take for granted that our skins need protection from the sun daily. Invest in a good sunscreen which should be in your handbag.

Drink plenty of water: The health benefits of drinking at least eight glasses of water a day are as important as the beauty benefits. Water helps promote a youthful, glowing skin and helps reduce acne.

Eat a healthy diet: a healthy meal, that contains fruits, vegetables, which are full of vitamins and antioxidants, and lean proteins help you look and feel younger. A healthy diet, coupled with exercises promotes a younger, looking skin.

Take care of your skin: clean your makeup brushes regularly, and never sleep with make-up on as this blocks your pores. Exfoliate your skin at least twice a week with a PH neutral exfoliator and moisturise your face, before applying your everyday make-up.

Bath time: Add essential oils to your bath every day to nourish and pamper your skin. Avoid extremely hot water as that can strip your body’s natural oils away.

Don’t worry, be happy! Stress can negatively impact your overall health and skin appearance. Uncontrolled stress can cause acne and damage your skin. Try to find ways of avoiding or controlling stress. Your skin will thank you for it.
