The 6th annual Fabulous Women Awards celebrated and honoured great women in business and entertainment and young girls from Tembisa High

The Fabulous Girl Foundation kick-started women’s month with the sixth installment of the Fabulous Women Awards on 4 August 2018, with more than 200 women and young girls from all walks of life attending the event. Themed ‘stronger together’, the intimate gala dinner, which took place at Radisson Blue Hotel in Sandton, was successfully organised by philanthropist and businesswoman, Pontsho Manzi who is the founder of the organisation. Some inspirational guests, who, some were the recipients of the awards included actress and singer KB Motsilanyane, Josina Machel, Rosie Motene, Sthandiwe Kgoroge, Nambitha Mpumlwana, Thandy Matlaila and social influencer Mihlali Ndamase and the VIPs of the evening: young girls from Tembisa High School, in the East Rand. The awards are about bridging the intergenerational gap amongst women and the overt promotion of ethical womanhood. They aim to give young girls the opportunity to rub shoulders with prominent and inspirational women across business and entertainment fields. Pontsho Manzi, who made the night possible testified that the award are growing bigger and she will take the awards to Cape Town in 2019. Standiwe Kgoroge advised the young women present about the power of social media and how to use it for career-related opportunities.

The evening unfolded with more entertainment from singers KB and Hlengiwe Pearl. The official sponsors of the awards were the South African Civil Aviation Authority

Fabulous Woman of the Soil: KB Motsilenyane

Fabulous Woman Humanitarian Award: Leann Dlamini

Fabulous Woman Resilience Award: Josina Machel

Fabulous Woman Girl of the Year: Katlego Ncala

Special Brave Woman Awards  for 2018 were given to:

Sibulele Sibaca and Malebo Sephodi

Two Tembisa High School Top performers received awards: Masesi Manage (Commerce) and Bongi Ngema (Maths and Science)
