Beauty is to many women what air is to life. We simply can’t live without it, but there are routines that are not friendly to our skin. Here are five skin mistakes to avoid
If only we could sing along to and actually believe Beyonce’s Flawless single. A beautiful and youthful skin is what we all want and hence we invest in our beauty traditions. But many of us are culprits to skin mistakes our skins wish we’d stop doing, especially, if like me yours breaks out often. Here are skin mistakes you need to avoid at all costs this year:
Sleeping with your makeup on: To many, 24 hours don’t seem to be enough in a day and this often results in bad lifestyle and even beauty habits. Makeup clogs your skin, resulting in more breakouts and skin damage. No matter how exhausted you might be, invest in cleansing, toning and moisturising your skin. It might seem daunting but the results are rewarding.
Not protecting your skin with sun lotion: My dermatologist almost chewed me when I told her that I didn’t use sun lotion. It’s the first thing I bought after leaving her room! Not using sun lotion is a crime every skin expert would arrest you for if they could. Make sure you protect your skin with sun lotion, no matter the amount of SPF your make-up range contains.
Making an unhealthy lifestyle a habit: Overdosing on Junk food, especially rich in carbohydrates and drinking less water is hazardous not only on your overall health but on your skin. We are what we eat, and our skin is one of the biggest indicators of the lifestyle we choose.
Not exfoliating your skin: Big mistake. There is so much that your skin already does for you; it’s vital that you take good care of it. Exfoliating your skin is important to remove sebum, dirt and dead cells and to maintain that youthful, great looking skin.
Not having enough sleep: While sleeping for 8 to 10 hours is a dream for many hustlers, it’s an essential, natural and free beauty ingredient to invest in. The term, “beauty sleep,” is really not a fantasy but an important reality. Challenge yourself to sleep more than eight hours for a week and see what difference it will make.
