Your behaviour at work can affect your colleagues and even cost you your job. These are the habits to leave at the door when you go to work

Many of us know colleagues who make us cringe and who are inappropriate. And some of us are even those colleagues. People can make you hate your job. Period. And when it gets to that level it’s really up to you to find a way to deal with it. We spend most a huge portion of our day at work and the last thing we need is to dread going there. If you have these five habits that you bring to work please stop them ASAP:

You are always late: Life is unpredictable, traffic can be at a standstill in the morning, your family member can fall sick or an emergency might need your attention. That, normal bosses, get but if you constantly arrive late at work, and take very long lunch breaks it really is disturbing. And will certainly cost you your job.

Lack of manners: People across the hall don’t have to hear your conversations or your tantrums. You have to bring good manners that your mother taught you at work. Don’t forget to say please and thank you when you need something or were offered help. How you respond to your emails if at all you do also says a lot about you. Also, there is no harm in showing polite gestures to your colleagues and visitors.

Dressing inappropriately: You represent your company, and how you dress reflects the culture of your workplace. Even if your work is not strict with dress code please don’t be inappropriate. Revealing clothes or slippers are a big no.

You are always on your cell phone and social media: Some companies have gone to the extent of banning these at the office. It just shows how disturbing and unprofessional it is. Unless there is an emergency leave your phone in your bag until your lunch break or when you knock off.

Your negative energy: If you always complain, gossip or use foul language you are already famous for it. Panic because you really are not in everyone’s good books. If anything, your behaviour is leading you to a dismissal.

These habits are just a tip of the iceberg. Whatever you do, make sure that you treat others as you want them to treat you. This golden rule applies everywhere and especially at work.

What other inappropriate habits at work have you witnessed?
