The Lazy Makoti has been buzzing in South Africa, and abroad for a while, and for a good reason. This brand is all about being proudly African through our delicious cuisine.

At 28 Mogau Seshoene is the face behind a brand that promotes upholding pride in African food through food. Her brand, The Lazy Makoti started when she gave cooking lessons to a friend who was struggling to learn how to make South African dishes and it snowballed to the big brand it is today, earning her appearances in The Mail and Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans and the Forbes Top 30 under 30 feature, among others. Her passion for African dishes radiates in her cooking lessons, and we were happy to join the experience last night at the Pick n Pay Good Food Studio in Sandton to learn a thing or two about African flavours. This is what went down, when we learned how to make Jollof rice, a proudly West African dish as well as a Maandazi, a sweet Kenyan doughnut. What a way to travel to Africa in one night!
