We are usually our own worst enemies, but you can change that and become your own best friend.

Singing sensation Beyoncé, couldn’t have sung it better in her 2003 hit single, me, myself and I. We are all we have and must make the choice to become our own best friends. Chances are we are bound to make mistakes in life; from relationships to our career choices. But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of the road for you. The best thing about life is that each day presents a new opportunity to start over and become a better version of yourself. Imagine how life could be if we blocked out negative talks, not only from people but from within ourselves? Whether we choose to believe it or not, we are ultimately what we think and God meets us at the level of our expectations. Do something great for yourself this week by being kinder to yourself. This is how:

Focus on what you love about yourself: Forget your potbelly or big nose, what is the one thing you appreciate about your body or your personality? Take two minutes of your time each morning and appreciate how uniquely you were created. Choose to focus on what makes you happy.

Pamper yourself: When was the last time you soaked in a hot, bubble bath, visited a spa, went to your favourite restaurant or spent the whole weekend relaxing? Yes, time seems to be too short since your business, job or family needs your undivided attention, but make time to spoil yourself every once in a while.

Learn to stand up for yourself: Not everyone wants the best for you and will do anything to bring you down. Protect yourself from such people by keeping a distance from them. Life is way too short to allow people to hurt your self-worth and self-esteem.

Learn from your mistakes and celebrate your milestones: Use your mistakes as your learning curve and forgive yourself. Never forget to celebrate every achievement you have accomplished, no matter how small.

Be kind to others: This biblical teaching is so true, ‘do to others what you want them to do to you’, if you want to attract kind and positive people, start by being nice to yourself and extend this gesture to others.
