23-year-old vocalist, Amanda Black shares what being nominated for a prestigious international award means for her successful career.

When news burst that the Amazulu hitmaker is competing against international acts, such as Tanzanian performer Ray Vanny and entertainers from the UK, South Korea, Canada, Australia and Jamaica for the BET Viewers Choice Award social media flooded with congratulatory messages, as well as the #IpickAmandaBlack hashtag, which encourages fellow South Africans to vote for the singer. Amanda’s music career skyrocketed after the release of her hit single Amazulu, which became an anthem of hope. The star moved to Johannesburg in 2016 to pursue her music career, but she didn’t anticipate how quickly her career would take off. But her road to stardom wasn’t without challenges. She entered the popular talent search show, Idols SA three times but still didn’t win the competition. She says, “I had accepted that Idols wasn’t a platform for me to launch my career, but never did I doubt my purpose in making music. When I was signed by Ambitiouz Entertainment last year I didn’t anticipate  such warm reception from fans and the industry. One of the highlights for me so far are the awards I have been receiving and the lives I touch through my music. I am enjoying every moment of my career right now and it’s a huge honour for me to be nominated for a BET award. After being embraced and recognised at home over again. I have great plans to have an international career, it has always been one my biggest goals to represent South Africa on a global scale. To the young person who wants to achieve success, every day is a  struggle but you have to push. Dream big and work towards fulfilling your dreams. I wouldn’t be where I am if  I listened to many people who tried to discourage me.”
